Do you know if your adolescent client is on-track?

Y-OQ® 2.0 SR Subscales

The Y-OQ® SR 2.0 is the self-report version of the Youth Outcome Questionnaire (Y-OQ® 2.01). It is designed to capture your younger clients' voice.  It can be used in tracking treatment progress for adolescents receiving therapy or counseling. It is important to note that the Y-OQ® 2.0 SR is NOT an equivalent form of, or interchangeable with, the Y-OQ® 2.01.

The Y-OQ® SR 2.0 is available in English in the OQ®-Analyst software.

The Y-OQ® SR TA 2.0 is a new measure which includes the Y-OQ® 2.01 and 5 questions from the OQ®-ASC about the Therapeutic Alliance.

The goal of the 5 Therapeutic Alliance questions is to assess your client's perception of the relationship between you and your client.

While it may be reassuring to know that clients have very positive feelings about their relationship with you, it is more helpful in a problem-solving mode to identify ruptures in the relationship and move to repair them.

Example:

You've been working with Alicia and her parents for several weeks. You know from your Clinician Report that her mother is concerned with Alicia's frequent obsessive thoughts and occasional substance abuse along with her mood changes. Alicia seems to acknowledge she has worries obsessively but doesn't acknowledge she has substance abuse problems.

Mother's report:
y-oq critical items

Looking at Alicia's reports you see many differences:

Y-OQ SR

Risk assessment: High score on the critical items scale indicate those who may need immediate intervention beyond standard outpatient treatment.

Assists with treatment planning: Assessment of content areas allows for a more streamlined treatment plan and documentation.

Content area that assesses functional level and change over time: The Y-OQ® 2.0 SR is composed of 64 items that comprise six separate subscales designed to tap diverse areas of behavioral difficulties as well as including elements of healthy behavior. As with the Y-OQ®2.01, the Y-OQ®2.0 SR cuts across treatment models, diagnoses, and disciplines, allowing for use and comparison in a wide variety of settings.

Ease of administration and scoring: The Y-OQ® 2.0 SR items are rated on a 5 point scale. Administration and scoring only take a few minutes.

Compatibility with today's mental health arena: Nominal cost, brevity, and assessments of functional change are all factors that assist in today's world of cost containment, efficiency, and accountability for services provided.

The Y-OQ® SR 2.0 and Y-OQ® SR 2.0 TA are available in English and Spanish with the OQ®-Analyst software.

Through the use of cut-off scores and a reliable change index, the Y-OQ® 2.0 SR permits determination of the client's behavioral similarity at each measurement interval to a residential, partial hospital population, outpatient populations, and a large, untreated community sample.

Standardized data with sensitivity to change. Based on normative data, the Y-OQ® 2.0 SR has been found to be both reliable and valid, yielding high internal consistency.  Statistically significant differences are present between the means for the clinical and normative samples.

The Y-OQ® SR TA is a 64-item Measure with an additional 5 questions about the Therapeutic Alliance.

The therapeutic alliance has been defined as the quality of the helping relationship between the client and therapist. This relationship is considered to include a positive bond between the client and therapist, and agreement on therapeutic tasks and goals. In addition, specific responses to specific items can guide the therapist to consider certain aspects of the alliance that may be most problematic.

The Y-OQ® SR TA is a new measure which includes the Y-OQ® SR 2.0 and 5 questions about Therapeutic Alliance.
