The Y-OQ®-2.01 is a 64 item report completed by the parent/guardian. It is a measure of treatment progress for children and adolescents (ages 4-17) receiving mental health intervention.  It is designed to reflect the total amount of distress a child or adolescent is experiencing.

The Y-OQ® 2.01 TA is a new measure which includes the Y-OQ® 2.01 and 4 questions about the Therapeutic Alliance.

The goal of the 4 Therapeutic Alliance questions is to assess your client's perception of the relationship between you and your client.

While it may be reassuring to know that clients have very positive feelings about their relationship with you, it is more helpful in a problem-solving mode to identify ruptures in the relationship and move to repair them.

Y-OQ® 2.01 Critical Items

You are expecting Alicia's mother for her weekly session today. She used her email link to complete the Y-OQ® 2.01 Outcome Questionnaire online before your session. Reviewing your clinician report, you see she thinks her daughter worries excessively and may be participating in underage drinking. With this information you can start discussing with her mother how you both can help Alicia.

Risk assessment: High scores on the critical items scales indicate those who may need immediate intervention beyond standard outpatient treatment.

Standardized data with exceptional sensitivity to change: Based on normative data, the Y-OQ® 2.01 has been found to be both reliable and valid, yielding high internal consistency and comparing favorably with other tools such as the Child Behavior Checklist. Statistically significant differences are present between the means for the clinical and normative samples.

Assists with treatment planning: Assessment of content areas of the Y-OQ® 2.01 allows for a more streamlined treatment plan and documentation.

Ease of administration and scoring: The Y-OQ® 2.01 items are rated by the parent/guardian on a 5 point scale. Administration and scoring only take a few minutes.

The Y-OQ® 2.01 and Y-OQ® 2.01 TA are available in English and Spanish with the OQ®-Analyst software.

When working with children under the age of 11 or 12, parent-report data is the most used method with the assumption being that parents will be the most reliable source for obtaining data about a young child's functioning and behavior.

Through the use of cut-off scores and a reliable change index, the Y-OQ® 2.01 allows the clinician to see the child's behavioral similarity at each treatment interval compared to inpatient populations, outpatient populations, and a large untreated community sample.

The Y-OQ® 2.01 TA is a 64-item Measure with an additional 4 questions about the Therapeutic Alliance.

The therapeutic alliance has been defined as the quality of the helping relationship between the client and therapist. This relationship is considered to include a positive bond between the client and therapist, and agreement on therapeutic tasks and goals. In addition, specific responses to specific items can guide the therapist to consider certain aspects of the alliance that may be most problematic.
