Y-OQ® 2.01
The Y-OQ® 2.01 (Youth Outcome Questionnaire) is a brief 64 item parent report measure of treatment progress for children and adolescents (ages 4-17) receiving mental health intervention. It is the effort of a unique partnership between administrators, researchers, and practitioners, led by Drs. Burlingame, Lambert, and Reisinger, and seeks to fill a gap in outcome measurement for children and adolescents. Similar in its intent to the OQ®-45.2, the tracking measure for adults, the Y-OQ® 2.01 is meant to track actual change in functioning as opposed to assigning diagnoses. Through the use of cut-off scores and a reliable change index, the Y-OQ® 2.01 allows the clinician to see the child's behavioral similarity at each treatment interval to inpatient popluations, outpatient populations, and a large untreated community sample. Noteworthy features of the Y-OQ® 2.01 include:
- Standardized data with exceptional sensitivity to change: Based on normative data, the Y-OQ® 2.01 has been found to be both reliable and valid, yielding high internal consistency across the 3 samples and correlating favorably with other tools such as the Child Behavior Checklist. Statistically significant differences are present between the means for the clinical and normative samples.
- Content area that assesses functional level and change over time: The Y-OQ® 2.01 is composed of 64 items that comprise six separate subscales designed to tap diverse elements of healthy behavior. The subscales include Interpersonal Distress (ID), Somatic (S), Intrapersonal Relations (IP), Critical Items (CI), Social Problems (SP) and Behavioral Dysfunction (BD). As with the OQ®-45.2, this approach cuts across treatment models, diagnoses, and disciplines, allowing for use and comparison in a wide variety of settings.
- Ease of administration and scoring: The Y-OQ® 2.01 items are rated by the parent/guardian on a 5 point scale. Administration and scoring only take a few minutes.
- Assists with treatment planning: Assessment of content areas of the Y-OQ® 2.01 allows for a more streamlined treatment plan and documentation.
- Risk assessment: High scores on the critical items scales indicate those who may need immediate intervention beyond standard outpatient treatment.
- Compatibility with today's mental health arena: Nominal cost, brevity, and assessment of functional change are all factors that assist in today's world of cost containment, efficiency, and accountability for services provided.
- Languages: The Y-OQ® 2.01 is available in English, Spanish, French, Swedish, and Dutch.
The Y-OQ® 2.01 is available in our software product - The OQ®-Analyst. This software is designed to administer the Y-OQ® 2.01 in either electronic or paper format (e.g. Kiosk, PC, PDA or scanning). The OQ®-Analyst contains empirically and rationally derived algorithms that detect "failing" cases as well as plot improvement. To request a demo or order the OQ®-Analyst, click here.
